It's refreshing to know the grumpy naysayers of old days who insisted furry fandom would never get good press have been proven wrong (again). I feel vindicated.
Yes, I'm being smug. I'm entitled to it, especially considering their solution was to complain about the situation instead of actually, y'know, doing something about it.
But that's kinda how anything worth doing works, isn't it? What you get out of something depends on what you put into it. So while some bitter ex-furries still whine about how awful furry fandom is, the rest of us are going to conventions and getting in the Guinness Book Of World Records and helping the fandom grow and enjoying ourselves... because at the end of the day, we know what matters.
It's a great time to be Furry.
