I'm taking a break from researching the milestones along Albany Post Road to do a bit of sketching. Beacon Terminal looks like a good candidate, to be used for my own nefarious purposes.
I visited the Beacon Terminal with Rigel last year. It's along Fishkill Creek and very much abandoned. I dared to venture inside and discovered a huge portion of ceiling had collapsed. I have video from inside the building, maybe I'll post it to YouTube or something.
Beacon Terminal is right down the road from the no-longer-existing New York Rubber Company, which was a beautiful old relic but has since been demolished. We never got a chance to explore it because it was heavily posted with no trespassing signage. I recently learned that Hudson Valley State Hospital burned down as well. Damn. All the cool old buildings are going away.
I'm planning to explore up around the Hudson Highlands some more during my next trip up to New York. There's an old CCC camp at the foot of Storm King that might be fun to check out. I could see some ruins on Google's satellite view.
